The Burk Burnett Library features a growing collection of books and magazines that cover a variety of subjects related to ranching and western history. The Library and Reading Room are named in honor of Samuel Burk Burnett, one of the most important and influential cattlemen in Texas.

Reading Room

The Library features two comfortable, quiet spaces for use by students, researchers and other guests. The Reading Room offers an inviting environment with a view of Proctor Park.


The Library boasts a selection of 1,200+ volumes with new works added regularly.


The NRHC carries a select number of magazines related to ranching and associated subjects.
