In 1986 Hank Dorris began working for the family business Specialty Packaging, Inc.
Since then the company has grown from 15 employees and five production lines running one eight-hour shift a day to 160 employees at two plants in Texas and Ohio running 21 lines around the clock. Today he is president/CEO of Specialty Packaging as well as managing partner of DRD, LLC and DorLon, LLC.
Specialty Packaging's Texas plant manufactures paper bags and sandwich wrap used by restaurants, food processors and convenience stores. Clients include Sonic, Chili's, Tyson and Subway. The Ohio plant produces rolls and sheets for candy and tobacco companies, food processors and quick-serve restaurants, such as Wrigley's, R.J. Reynolds and Celestial Seasonings.
At Texas Tech University, Dorris earned a B.B.A. in Real Estate Finance (1985).
Dorris and his wife, Meredith, have one child. The family's philanthropic interests include Colorado State University, Operation Stitches, Texas Tech University, Trinity Valley School and University Little League.
