Gene Lake Wins the Carlton J. Whitehead Award for Leadership Excellence in Health Organization Management
Gene Lake was awarded the 2009 Carlton J. Whitehead Award for Leadership Excellence in Health Organization Management (HOM) at the Buesseler Distinguished Lecture and Luncheon on October 30. This award honors an individual who has provided outstanding leadership in the HOM field.
Mr. Lake, a devoted, long-time supporter of the Health Organization Management program, was presented a $1,000 honorarium. Mr. Lake returned the gift to the HOM program to be put towards the Susan Stanton Scholarship Fund. Mr. Lake is a former employee of Abbot Labs, who has promised to match Mr. Lake's donation.
The Lecture and Luncheon were held at the Lubbock Country Club on Friday, Oct. 30, 2009. The guest speaker Randy Hickle spoke about "Wellness and Prevention." Hickle graduated from Harvard Medical School and is the Founder, CEO, and President of the Grace Clinic. He practices anesthesiology and has led numerous research and development teams in commercialization of medical products and systems.
