Texas Tech's Real Estate Organization recently toured several real estate companies in the Austin area Oct. 11-13, 2009. The group of students went on this trip to gain a better understanding of the real estate profession by talking to a number of real estate experts.
During the trip, the students toured the Whole Foods Market corporate office and prototype store. The group also talked with a real estate attorney who explained the process of creating condominiums, and spoke with a national investment firm about the process of analyzing and purchasing a Dallas apartment complex. The group participated in a discussion with a Dallas subdivision developer about fixing a 'problem' subdivision development in south Austin. The students also received a 'behind the scene' tour of the Texas Capitol building by Representative Carl Isett.
The Real Estate Organization contains students of any major who have an interest in learning more about a career in real estate. The trip was funded by a contribution from James Holcomb, Holcomb Properties, Houston and from the Texas Tech University Student Government Association.
