Dr. Herschel Mann Wins 2010 President's Excellence in Teaching Award

Hershel MannThe Rawls College of Business Nominee, Herschel Mann, won the President's Excellence in Teaching Award. Mann will be recognized for this prestigious university award at the Faculty Honors Convocation at 3:30 pm on April 20, 2010.

Biography: Herschel Mann, Ph.D., CPA, is the KPMG Professor of Accounting at Texas Tech University. He received his Ph.D. and M.A. from the University of Alabama and his BBA from the University of Arkansas at Monticello. His previous work experience was with Grant Thornton & Co. At Texas Tech, he has received five university-wide teaching awards, including the outstanding faculty member in the College of Business Administration and the outstanding faculty member in the Department of Accounting. He also serves as chairman of Texas Tech's Athletic Council. Dr. Mann was the Texas Society of CPAs' 1994 State of Texas nominee for the AICPA Educator of the Year Award. He is the author or co-author of eight interactive CPE courses for MicroMash, co-author of a CPA Review book, and co-author of two CPE Associates' CPE courses. He has served on various professional committees, including the AICPA's Task Force on Accounting for Interest Income, the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy's Technical Standards Review Committee, and the Texas Society of CPAs' Accounting, Auditing, and Reporting Standards Committee and the Editorial Board for its publication, Today's CPA.
