The Rawls College of Business Ambassadors are hosting this year's American Association of University Women Mother-Daughter Workshop on February 18. The event is a collaborative effort with Lubbock Independent School District and is designed to inspire first generation 6th-grade girls to go to college. Work shop sessions include goal-setting, financial aid, applying for college, college preparation classes and personal enhancement.
This year's keynote speaker is Velma Medina.
Velma Medina is a Residential Sales Associate with Coldwell Banker Rick Canup, Realtors. In her first year as an agent (2000), she received the Coldwell Banker Rookie of the Year award. She is now a recognized member of the elite Coldwell Banker's Presidential Circle, which represents the top 2% of Coldwell Banker agents in the United States and is a Multi-Million Dollar Producer. Her quick and continued success is a direct result of the confidence and trust she has earned from the Lubbock community. She was awarded the Hispanic Association of Women's '2005 Woman of the Year in Business'. Velma and her husband were also awarded the 'People of Vision" award.
