Dean Nail continued this semester's tradition of personally awarding scholarships to join the Rawls Business Leadership Program when he traveled to high schools in Frisco last week. While at the schools, Dean Nail gave scholarships to incoming freshmen Travis Haworth, from Frisco High School, and Karen Martinez, from Lone Star High School, in front of their peers.
During the visit, Frisco Independent School Districtwrote an article featuring Dean Nail, Haworth and Martinez.
FHS and LSHS Seniors Accepted into Prestigious Business Program
Apr 23, 2014
Dean Lance Nail of the Rawls Business School at Texas Tech University recently visited both Frisco and Lone Star high schools to recognize seniors who have been accepted into the Rawls Business Leadership Program. Only 12 incoming freshmen students were selected for the program this year.
Dr. Nail personally visited all of the recipients to welcome them into the program and honor them in front of their peers and families. Accepted students include seniors Travis Haworth of Frisco High School and Karen Martinez of Lone Star High School.
The Rawls Business Leadership Program is a dynamic learning program designed to develop students as leaders. The program focuses on developing the "complete" student, a student who has both a strong academic foundation and the real-world experience necessary to be a successful leader. The four elements of the program consist of experiential living and learning, real-world application, international experience and interactive personal development. While the program is not an independent major, it is designed to enhance a student's learning experience at Rawls by providing the opportunity to participate in action-based leadership activities applicable to all business majors.
