Rawls College of Business Celebrates Success in Fundraising
By: Trevor Bell
As the Rawls College of Business embarks on its strategic mission to become a top-tier business school by 2020, the Rawls College has experienced tremendous support from alumni, donors and friends to accomplish these initiatives. In the 2013-14 fiscal year, the Rawls College generated over $28 million in gifts and pledges, marking the second-highest fundraising year in the college's history. Last year also ranked the Rawls College as the highest-earning fundraising college at Texas Tech University, a milestone that has not been reached since 2001.
These generous gifts made it possible for the Rawls College to offer innovative and impactful programs for our students, such as the Rawls Business Leadership Program, a new leadership program designed to recruit high-ability business students. Financial contributions have also enabled the Rawls College to hire industry-leading faculty members who add key insights to the classroom, and have ultimately showed that the relationships built between the Rawls College and its stakeholders are some of the best in the country.
"I want to thank all of our donors, alumni and friends for their continued financial support of the Rawls College of Business. This support has a direct impact on our students, our faculty and the community," Paul Herring, executive director of development and alumni relations, said. "This support helps us educate tomorrow's thought leaders and innovators, makes our region more attractive to businesses, creates a fertile environment for entrepreneurs and keeps our economy thriving."
Additionally in 2013-14, the Rawls College was ranked as one of the top 100 undergraduate business schools by both Bloomberg Businessweek and U.S. News & World Report, a best graduate business school by both U.S. News & World Report and College Atlas, and a top school for veterans. The Master of Science in Accounting Program was ranked in the top 10 nationally, as well. Without the help of donors, none of these accomplishments would be possible.
By showing support and providing funding to the Rawls College, donors are not only investing in the college and its mission, but are positively impacting students and building momentum for continued success.
