Rawls MIS Faculty Research Ranked No. 40 Internationally
By: Trevor Bell
The Management Information Systems (MIS) faculty at the Rawls College of Business continues to be among the most productive faculties in the world. The MIS faculty is currently ranked No. 40 among university faculties worldwide for publications in the top four MIS journals over the past 10 years.
"The Rawls College has outstanding Management Information Systems faculty who consistently publish important, impactful research that is recognized through publication in our discipline's top-rated journals," Dr. Glenn Browne, Rawls Professor of Information Systems and Area Coordinator for ISQS, said. "The number 40 worldwide ranking over the last 10 years provides excellent publicity for both the Area of ISQS and the Rawls College and helps attract high-quality faculty and doctoral students. We have supportive, collaborative MIS faculty members who are committed to achieving even higher goals in the future."
Dean Lance Nail echoed these sentiments and displayed pride that the college's faculty continues to perform at an optimal level.
"This is a tremendous recognition of the thought leadership role played by our MIS faculty," Dean Nail said. "Publications in the elite MIS journals are the ones that shape the study of MIS and for our faculty to be ranked 40th for publications in those journals among the thousands of universities around the globe is a testament to their thought leadership."
Texas Tech's MIS faculty performs research in human-computer interaction, business analytics, information search and stopping behavior, information requirements determination, cognitive and neuroscience IS research, IT service innovations, diffusion of information technologies, quantitative research methodologies, and other areas. This ranking exceeds the ranking of many other notable universities, including Texas A&M, Purdue, Florida State, Notre Dame, Rochester, Boston University, Virginia, Northwestern, Wisconsin, Illinois, and many others.
