Dr. John Masselli, Haskell Taylor Professor of Taxation, and Jeffrey Harper, instructor of marketing, were both selected as recipients of the 2015 Mortar Board and Omicron Delta Kappa Faculty Recognition Award. This is a student-nominated award based on the outstanding qualities of the faculty member both in and out of the classroom. Dr. Masselli and Professor Harper were each honored for their achievements on Thursday, Nov. 12, at the McKenzie-Merket Alumni Center. In total, five faculty members across campus were selected.
Dr. Masselli was nominated by Brooke Downing, Regan Head, Rob McMenamy, and BaLeigh Waldrop.
"I am truly honored to have been selected as one of the 2015 recipients of the Faculty Recognition Award from Mortar Board and Omicron Delta Kappa. I am passionate about education and continuously strive to be the best tax professor and student advocate I can be. To that end, it is especially heartwarming to have my efforts acknowledged with such a prestigious award," Dr. Masselli said. "I wish to thank my nominators as well as all the students who voted for me. I am very proud to be Red Raider faculty member and look forward to serving our academic community for years to come."
Professor Harper was nominated by Macy Eubank, William Goins, Lindsey Graves, and Amber Yanez.
"It is a great honor to receive the prestigious Omicron Delta Kappa Mortar Board Faculty recognition award. With this award being driven by nominations by students, who had to write an extensive essay about their nominee, I'm very humbled that the students who nominated me would take time out of their busy schedules to do this. As this is one of the most prominent teaching awards given on campus I'm still in awe of having this recognition bestowed on me," Professor Harper said. This supports the efforts outlined in the Rawls College of Business Strategic Plan.
