Goosehead CEO Mark Jones Discusses the Qualities of a Great Leader with RBLP Students
By: Trevor Bell
Chairman, President and CEO of Goosehead Insurance Mark Jones recently visited with Rawls Business Leadership Program students to discuss the importance of leadership during and after school. Jones highlighted what skills are needed to be an effective leader and gave advice about gaining respect in the work place.
During his time with the students, Jones emphasized the benefit of hiring hard working, polite people. His greatest lesson since leaving school has been to listen thoroughly to the people around you. Jones believes that having good listening skills and the determination to follow through on promises is the basis for an exemplary leader.
"Look for ways to prove you can be relied upon," Mark Jones said. "People who are chronic credit takers never get far. Create value for your organization."
The RBLP students were inspired by Jones' words, which gave insights into the qualities that are valued by members of the corporate world. After hearing his advice for achieving success during and after school, many students were inspired and excited to prove their determination and work ethic.
"The opportunity to meet Mr. Jones was invaluable," Surafell Kebede said. "Hearing from an industry leader about hard work and innovation inspired me to become a better leader."
"I am grateful that RBLP gives us the opportunity to sit down with people like Mark Jones," Carly Harr said. "These are the experiences that drive young leaders to success."
