The conference gave students the opportunity to learn from professionals during one of six Professional Development Academies in areas such as: business management and administration, communication and technology, entrepreneurship, finance and accounting, hospitality and tourism, and marketing. Throughout the event, nearly 1,000 Collegiate DECA members were given the chance to showcase their career knowledge and skills by competing in the Competitive Events Program.

Sean Lewis and CJ Dehaan represented the Texas Tech DECA chapter in the International Marketing Competitive Event and earned third place overall. This event required participants to assume the role of marketing personnel as they analyzed a case study and presented a fully developed marketing plan, based off of current international trends.

The Texas Tech chapter also won the Executive Leadership Passport Award for showing outstanding leadership throughout the conference; the Chapter Community Service Award to honor the civic activities performed throughout the Lubbock community; and the Association Membership Increase Award for the initiation of a new chapter and increasing membership. Sarah Davila earned the Chapter Leadership Award, in recognition of the leadership and initiative she has shown as President of the Tech chapter.
