This September, an estimated 1,000 students visited the McCoy Atrium and PlainsCapital Courtyard at the Jerry S. Rawls College of Business to take part in Rawls Day, one of the colleges most anticipated events of the year.
This years theme, Rawlschella, brought the lively energy of a music festival to campus. With vibrant decorations, prize-winning activities, and popular music filling the courtyard, students immersed themselves in the celebratory atmosphere while discovering the wide range of resources available throughout the college.
The event featured free food and swag, networking opportunities, and nearly 50 information tables – including 28 hosted by student organizations. Organization representatives shared their experiences and encouraged attendees to get involved, while campus resource offices provided guidance and highlighted how they can support students throughout their educational journeys.
For many attendees, the event was a chance to discover new opportunities firsthand. Attending Rawls Day gave accounting major Mackenzie Sims a glimpse into the many ways students can engage and make the most of their college experience.
"It was definitely eye-opening to realize just how many organizations and resources are available here at Rawls,” she said. “I enjoyed talking with different organizations, and attending has inspired me to get more involved.”
The event benefited not only students but also student organizations, allowing them to connect with like-minded peers, welcome new members, and pass on their legacy to the next generation of students. Naara Pavon, vice president of marketing and events for the Family Business Student Organization, values how the event encouraged a culture of support, connection, and shared growth.
“Its more than just recruiting,” she said. “Its about building a community where students feel supported and inspired to get involved.”

The celebration began with the third annual Rawls Day Preview, hosted by the Rawls Experience Hub as part of the Rawls First Year Experience initiative. Around 200 first-year students attended, connecting with fellow newcomers before joining the main event.
Together, Rawlschella and the preview event showcased the spirit of the Rawls College experience – welcoming, supportive, and filled with opportunities for students to build lasting connections, discover their place, and thrive.
