About

Scott Hawkins was born in Big Spring, Texas to a 30-year career Air Force officer. He spent much of his youth in Europe going to high school in three different countries. For his undergraduate studies, he attended Washington & Lee University while also spending a year abroad in Taiwan.

His corporate career focused on Asia, and he lived and worked in China, Vietnam and New Zealand. He held operational and supply chain roles for General Nutrition Centers (International) and later for a primary supplier to Nike. Moving back to the US, he transitioned to finance and accounting and was the controller for a software company that provided services to Nike and Adidas.

Scott then discovered teaching and was full-time faculty at Portland State. After three years, he decided to pursue a PhD in accounting at Texas Tech, defending his dissertation in 2022. Scott is currently a lecturer in the accounting department at Texas Tech for the 2022-23 school year.
