About

Theodore L. Waldron, PhD (Ted) is the Kent R. Hance Regents Chair in Entrepreneurship. He earned his BS and MBA from Villanova University and his PhD from The University of Georgia. In addition to his academic career, Ted has worked in hospital administration and management consulting.

Ted's research harnesses mixed methods, particularly qualitative techniques, to develop new theory at the intersection of entrepreneurship, family business, strategy and sustainability. His research has been published in top management and entrepreneurship journals including the Academy of Management Review (AMR), Academy of Management Perspectives (AMP), Journal of Business Venturing (JBV) and Journal of Management Studies (JMS), among others. Additionally, Ted serves on the editorial boards of AMR, JBV, JMS, AMP and EIX while reviewing as needed for numerous other journals. Additionally, Ted serves as an associate editor for JBV and Entrepreneur & Innovation Exchange, as well as on the editorial boards of AMR, JMS,and AMP while reviewing on demand for numerous other journals.

Waldron teaches courses in entrepreneurship, strategy, consulting, qualitative research methods and others across levels (undergrad to doctoral) and formats (online, hybrid, in-person). He applies experiential models to enable students to become more effective critical thinkers, problem solvers, leaders, communicators and colleagues. These experiences typically involve real projects where students develop skills of meaning and value to their intended professions.

Commensurate with his practical approach to research and teaching, Waldron has engaged in executive advisement for clients ranging from startups to multinationals and published widely read thought leadership works in Harvard Business Review and Entrepreneur & Innovation Exchange.
