Through this exhibition is an unprecedented way of educating others on power. The colors of the shirts differentiate the multiple forms of violence to turn statistics into shirts. The movement gives a voice to those who have been silenced, sending the message that help is available and there is a path to healing. View more information on The Clothesline Project.

Elizabeth Smart – Guest Speaker
Friday, March 31st | 6:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. | SUB Ballroom
As a part of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, Title IX welcomes Elizabeth Smart, former abductee and sexual assault survivor, to speak about her journey. Women & Gender Studies, Office of LGBTQIA Education & Engagement, and RISE will provide resources. Refreshments will be provided, and there will be a time for Q&A.
The abduction of Elizabeth Smart was one of the most followed child abduction cases of our time. Smart was abducted on June 5, 2002, and her captors controlled her by threatening to kill her and her family if she tried to escape. Fortunately, the police safely returned Smart back to her family on March 12, 2003 after being held prisoner for 9 grueling months.
Smart's abduction and recovery continues to motivate parents, law enforcement and leaders worldwide to focus on children's safety. She emphasizes vigilance by everyday people and the belief that hope always exist to find every missing child. Smart's example is a daily demonstration that there really is life after a tragic event.
