Getting Started at the SCC

Please Click Here for Updates about Our Services during the COVID-19 Response.  We are providing on-line services only.

To get started with treatment, come to the Student Counseling Center (SCC) during our Walk-In Clinic (M-F, 12:30pm to 3:30pm). Here you can see a counselor for an initial assessment on a first-come, first-served basis.  When you arrive you will be asked to complete introductory paperwork, which takes about 30 minutes. After completing the paperwork you will see the initial assessment counselor for 20-30 minutes.  During high volume periods, you may experience a wait between completion of the paperwork and meeting the assessment counselor. The initial assessment counselor will evaluate your concerns and discuss with you how your needs can best be addressed. We have a variety of services at the SCC including Manage Your Mood skills-building groups, MindSpa  independent use, Biofeedback Personal Coachinggroup therapy, and Brief Individual or Couples Counseling.   The counselor will work with you to find the most helpful fit for your concerns. We also have access to a network of mental health providers both on and off campus, and when appropriate you may be referred to one of these agencies. At the conclusion of your Walk-In session the counselor will discuss the next steps you need to take to feel better.  Your complete Walk-In session will last between 60 and 120 minutes, so be sure you have enough time for the full appointment when you come in.
