Award Eligibility

The purpose of the Raiders Who Rock program is to recognize outstanding students, faculty, and staff who make Texas Tech a better community for all of its members. The contributions of these individuals can range from exemplary accomplishments to small gestures, but each one positively impacts the quality of life for members of the Texas Tech and Lubbock communities. Students, faculty, staff members, or student organizations are eligible to be nominated as a Raider Who Rocks.

  • Students must be currently enrolled at Texas Tech University.
  • Faculty and staff members must be currently employed at Texas Tech University.
  • Student organizations must be currently registered with the Center for Campus Life.

Who can submit a nomination?

Texas Tech faculty, staff, advisors and currently enrolled Tech students can submit a Raiders Who Rock award nomination.

Award Categories

Nominators will choose ONE of the following categories for each Raiders Who Rock nomination.

Strive for Honor Award

This award recognizes a student, faculty, or staff member who embodies the Red Raider ethic of striving for honor by committing to do the right thing - even when no one is watching. Nominees for this award should display a commitment to treating others with respect regardless of conflicting viewpoints and honoring the dignity of others. Nominees of the Strive for Honor Award find ways to be extraordinary, even in ordinary circumstances, and make the Texas Tech community a better place for all its members.

Unsung Hero Award

This award recognizes individuals who work behind the scenes, have assisted others, or have overcome obstacles to impact an organization or department. Nominees for this award display a positive attitude and willingness to do whatever it takes to help others achieve excellence.

Pursuit of Excellence Award

This award recognizes individuals who model excellence in all aspects of their lives. Among classmates and colleagues, individuals nominated for this award are leaders in their respected fields both in and out of the classroom and demonstrate a commitment to achieving their personal best with integrity.

Community Service & Leadership Award

This award recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the campus community, including (but not limited to) contributions to academics, student life, community service, and leadership. Nominees for this award display a commitment to putting others before themselves and a focus on the bigger picture to improve the quality of life for members of the Texas Tech and/or Lubbock communities.

Cooperation & Communication Award

This award recognizes student organizations that have gone above and beyond to have a positive impact on the Texas Tech and/or Lubbock communities. Nominees for this award are student organizations whose members have cooperated with one another to achieve greater things together than they could have as individuals.

Nomination and Review Process

Nominations should be submitted through the electronic application link at the bottom of this page. Only electronic nominations via this form will be accepted.

NOMINATIONS ARE DUE MARCH 22 BY 11:59 PM CST.

A Raiders Who Rock selection committee will review the nominations and select the recipient(s). Note: All awards will be given at the discretion of this committee and the director of Transition & Engagement. Decisions are not subject to appeal.

All nominees and nominators will be invited to the Raiders Who Rock Banquet.
