Meet Caitlin

Hey, everyone!! My name is Caitlin King, and I'm from a city about 40 minutes north of Houston called Spring. I am a First-Generation college student here at Texas Tech, and I am majoring in Civil Engineering. My favorite pastime, when I am not busy with homework, is to hangout with my 3 best friends/ roommates that I met on my first day at Texas Tech! I'm so excited to share what Tech has to offer and show what it means to be a Red Raider!

During my time at Texas Tech, I have joined the Society of Women Engineers (SWE), American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), and Texas Society of Professional Engineers (TSPE). The Society of Women in Engineering supports and encourages women pursuing a career in a male-dominated environment, such as engineering, and provides volunteer opportunities here in the Lubbock community. The American Society of Civil Engineers provides guidance and connections for future Civil Engineers in preparation for post-college life. The Texas Society of Professional Engineers represents all branches of engineering and promotes the ethical, licensed practice of engineering.

If I could go back in time and talk to myself on my first day at Texas Tech, I would advise myself to not be so afraid of the change that college brings. I would tell myself to trust in my abilities, be my full, authentic self, and allow myself to grow because I am going to be so proud of who I become because of my experiences at Texas Tech.
