Travel to RRC

Please Note: Campers are responsible for providing their own travel to Red Raider Camp.

Red Raider Camp takes place at the Texas 4-H Conference Center campus in Brownwood, Texas

Arrival and Departure

  • Please arrive between noon and 1 pm on Day 1 of RRC. 
    • You should eat lunch prior to arriving at camp.
  • Make plans to depart from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM on Day 3 of RRC.

Early Arrival

Unfortunately, we are unable to provide accommodations for early arrival to Red Raider Camp. Please see the Brownwood Chamber of Commerce for travel and lodging accommodations near the Texas 4-H Conference Center if you need to arrive early.

Getting to Camp

Please pay special attention to the arrival and departure times when making your travel plans.

  • By Car: Campers can drive to RRC in their personal vehicle and park on site OR campers can be dropped off at RRC on Day 1 and picked up on Day 3.
  • By Plane: If you plan to arrive by plane, you will need to provide your own transportation to and from the Texas 4-H Conference Center. 

Due to privacy laws, we cannot release the names of other campers attending a particular session for travel or other reasons.

For GPS directions, type in the following address:  5600 FM 3021, Lake Brownwood, TX

Get Directions from Google Maps

From Brownwood, travel North on TX-279 11 miles. Turn right on FM Road 3021; then 3/4 mile on the left to the main gate of the Texas 4-H Conference Center.

From Abilene, travel East on TX-36 to Cross Plains. Turn right onto TX-206. TX-206 becomes TX-279. Travel 21 miles. Turn left onto FM Road 3021; then 3/4 mile on the left to the main gate of the Texas 4-H Conference Center. 

From Dallas/Ft. Worth, travel West on Interstate 20. Exit TX-206, travel south to Cross Plains. Continue, road becomes TX-279. Travel 21 miles. Turn left onto FM Road 3021; then 3/4 mile on the left to the main gate of the Texas 4-H Center.

From Austin, travel North on US-183 to Goldthwaite. Turn left onto TX-84 West 30.5 miles. Turn left onto Early Blvd/ US-183/ US-377/ US-67/ US-84. Follow directions above from Brownwood.

From San Antonio, travel North on US-87 to Brady. In Brady at the “square”, turn left to go around the square then left onto US-377N. Follow signs to US-377N 46.6 miles to Brownwood. In Brownwood, turn left onto W Austin Avenue; continue onto TX-279 N/Belle Plain St, travel approximately 11 miles. Turn right onto FM Road 3021; then 3/4 mile on the left to the main gate of the Texas 4-H Conference Center.

From San Angelo, travel North on US-67 to Santa Anna. Turn slight right onto US-67/US-84 13.8 miles. Turn left onto FM-1849 4 miles. Turn left onto TX-279 3 miles. Turn right onto FM Road 3021; then 3/4 mile on the left to the main gate of the Texas 4-H Conference Center. 

From El Paso, travel East on I-10 E. Keep left at the fork to continue on I-20 E. Take Exit 138 for TX-158 toward Farm to Market 715/Garden City/San Angelo. Turn right on TX-158 (just passed the Dairy Queen); 66.3 miles. Turn left on TX-158 and follow signs for TX-158 E; 46.4 miles. Turn right on TX-158E/US-277 S/S State St.; 0.3 miles. Turn Left onto TX-158 E; 23.6 miles. Turn Left onto US 67 N/US 83 N/Hutchins Ave; 0.9 miles. Use right lane to take US-67 to Coleman/Brownwood; 36.3 miles. Slight right onto US-67 N/US-84 E/Wais Ave/Wallis Ave; 14.1 miles. Turn left onto FM 1849; 4.1 miles. Turn left onto TX-279 N; 3.3 miles. Turn right onto FM 3021; 1.0 miles. then 3/4 mile on the left to the main gate of the Texas 4-H Conference Center.
