Dance runs in Melissa Brading’s family. Her mother was a dancer and introduced her daughter to the art form at an early age. With this family history plus a little inspiration from the “cool” dancers at the local mall, by age seven, Brading was enrolled in classes at a competition dance studio in her hometown of Topeka, Kansas.

Drawn to the idea of the primal, the carnal, and the Bacchanalian, Sarah Mayhew wants to explore what may happen if women were to shed the constraints of cultural femininity and succumb to their sometimes hidden and potentially dangerous appetites. "The Secretaries" answers the call with just the right combination of horror, camp, satire, and somehow, comedy.

Alumni are often invited to return the School of Theatre & Dance to share their real-world experiences. This is the case for our new lecturer at the School of Theatre and Dance, John Conner. He earned a BFA from Stephen F. Austin and an MFA with a focus in lighting design from Texas Tech University.

The School of Theatre and Dance produced its annual Fall Dance Festival, November 16-19. A capstone for the fourth-year dance students, the festival featured pieces from seven student choreographers.
