Generally, I shy away from interjecting myself into these School of Theatre and Dance alumni spotlight articles. However, if I am going to write about Toni Cobb Brock (BA, 1977), I don’t think I will be able to resist. Known by most as a gifted and prolific casting director for film and television, to me she is something much more.
April 25th marks the start of Frontier Fest 2022. This year, in addition to its usual grab bag of ten-minute plays, the week-long festival will include, for the first time, three full-length plays written by graduate students: "The Snake Eater" by Bradley Hewlett; "Gwen and Annie" by Charles Hughes; and "The Playwright & The Producer" by Garret Milton.
March is a busy month for our students. In addition to their academic and production responsibilities, many present their work and/or audition at the Region 6 Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF), while others deliver papers or lead workshops at conferences around the nation.
We in the dance program at Texas Tech dedicate our production of "DanceTech" in loving memory to Suzanne Aker, founder of Ballet Lubbock and the dance program at our university. Her picture graces the entrance to our Black Box theatre, and we are honored to continue the legacy she built with each, new generation of dancers.
