Chatting with Charney

There is some saying, and I paraphrase, that folks who love what they do never work a day in their lives, and that’s so true in the School of Theatre and Dance. Not everything we do is fun, nor is it all creative, but more often than not, the act of making art, be in within the realm of marketing, scholarship, dance, theatre, improvisation, and, yeah, even the running of our program, is a privilege.

What a semester we’ve had, from the early ribbon cutting celebrating our new space to our joining the International Theatre Institute, exemplified by five of our students along with Assistant Professor Mallory Prucha performing in the ruins of Ephesus….we have so much to be thankful for that writing this end-of-the-year column is in danger of being unbelievably sappy.

On Pointe

In January, Kim Jones will be leading a residency in the School of Theatre and Dance, creating a new work with the students who will perform in DanceTech 2020 in addition to teaching several masterclasses.

ASM for Dummies

We are now in the thick of the department season, with two shows having opened and more on the way. With so much art and creativity to absorb, it’s beneficial to take a step back and appreciate everyone who makes each production happen. Recently, I had the pleasure of talking with Mariah Solis, the ASM for the upcoming TTU production "The Father."
