Dr. Ginger Clark is an Associate Vice Provost for Academic and Faculty Affairs and
is leading USC's Teaching Excellence Initiative. USC's initiative has focused on defining,
developing, rigorously evaluating, and meaningfully rewarding teaching excellence,
using the same framework that promotes excellence in research. Ginger also serves
as the Director of the USC Center for Excellence in Teaching, which provides services
and resources to support the teaching excellence initiative, and more recently provided
online teaching training and workshops to thousands of faculty during the COVID crisis.
In addition to these roles, Ginger maintains her position as a Professor of Clinical
Education in the Marriage and Family Therapy Program, where she was Program Coordinator
for 10 years. She went on to serve as USC's first non-tenure-track president of its
Academic Senate before joining the Provost's office. She is also a licensed psychologist,
which comes in handy in calming some of the stress associated with this shift in USC's
teaching culture.
