Tenure Academy

Dates for Tenure Academy 2024

The Texas Tech University Tenure Academy is traditionally an annual event which provides tenure-track faculty members with information and strategies necessary for them to effectively advance through the tenure and promotion process at Texas Tech. By attending presentations from administrators as well as faculty members, participants will be exposed to an invaluable wealth of experience and advice on topics such as compiling a dossier, developing research projects, and successfully navigating the third year review process.

We have made changes to our event and will now offer three separate sessions in the Spring semester. We hope that by creating more focused sessions based on faculty members' place in the tenure track process, participants will receive more specialized support and information.

Tenure Academy: Successfully Navigating Your Third Year Review

Part 1: January 25th | 1:30-4:00 PM | Agenda

This first session of Tenure Academy is designed for faculty in years 1-3 of the tenure track process. We'll begin our time together with a welcome from the Provost and continue with a panel about navigating the third year review as well as breakout sessions focused on research.

Part 2: March 21st | 3:00-5:00 PM | Agenda

This session is a continuation of part 1 for faculty in years 1-3 of the tenure track process. Although attending the first session is not required, participants will benefit most from attending both parts. We'll hear the perspective of the Office of the Provost, offer strategies on organizing your dossier, and feature a discussion about mentorship.

Tenure Academy: Breaking Down Barriers to the Promotion and Tenure Process

February 15th | 1:30-5:00 PM | Agenda

This session is uniquely designed for those in years 4-6 of the tenure track process or those who want to look beyond year 3. We'll hear the administrative perspective from members of the Office of the Provost and from a panel of Department Chairs. We'll also feature a talk about mentorship and offer strategies on organizing your dossier.
