About Me

Heidi Villalba obtained her BS and MS in Biology from West Texas A&M University (WTAMU) in Canyon, Texas. She completed her Ph.D in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center University- Jerry H. Hodge School of Pharmacy in Amarillo, Tx. Then, she completed her Postdoctoral Fellowship funded by NIDA as a recipient of a Diversity supplement grant, where her focus was drugs of abuse (Nicotine, tobacco and E-cigarettes) and ischemic stroke outcomes. Her roots are deep in West Texas where she was born and raised in Dimmitt, Texas.

Instruction

Heidi taught Medical (Burrell School of osteopathic medicine), Pharmacy and graduate students.

Research

Her research interest is neuroscience, neuroprotective agents, brain cancer (such as glioblastomas) and sex differences.

Service

She has been a member of the American Heart Association, National Hispanic Science Network.
