Nichole Anderson is an Assistant Professor of Animal Behavior and Welfare at Texas Tech University. She completed her master's degree from North Dakota State University in lameness in dairy cattle then went on to receive a Ph.D. at Purdue University in sow-piglet communication.
Carolyn E. Arnold, DVM, PhD, DACVS
Professor of Equine Surgery
Carolyn Arnold is a Professor of Equine Surgery. She grew up in Southeastern Michigan and attended the College of Veterinary Medicine at Michigan State University from 1994-1998. After an internship at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital in central Kentucky, she completed a Large Animal Surgical Residency at the University of Pennsylvania's New Bolton Center in 2003.

I grew up on the beautiful island of Cyprus in the Mediterranean Sea, youngest of three siblings, and with our adored Siamese cats and Pekinese dogs. From a very young age, passionate about traveling, culture, languages, art and learning, I left home to pursue a higher education.
Martina Atzeni, DVM
Assistant Professor of Practice
Martina is a Veterinarian from Italy. She grew up in Sardinia and graduated in 2017 from the University of Sassari. After an internship in general practice at Weems and Stephens Equine Hospital in Aubrey, Texas, she moved to Saskatoon, Canada, where she completed a specialized internship in Large Animal Internal Medicine at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine.

Babafela Awosile is an Assistant Professor of Epidemiology. He grew up in Southwestern region of Nigeria. He earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree and MVSc in veterinary public health and preventative medicine from the Federal University of Agriculture in Abeokuta, Nigeria.
Jerry B. Black, DVM
Visiting Professor
Jerry B. Black is a Visiting Professor at Texas Tech School of Veterinary Medicine and is an Emeitus Professor and Wagonhound Land and Livestock Chair in Equine Sciences at Colorado State University. He was raised in west Texas and eastern New Mexico on a family cattle and wheat farming operation.

Michelle was born and raised outside of Rochester, NY where she enjoyed spending her free time helping on her grandparents crop farm, riding horses, and playing sports. After completing her veterinary degree at Western University of Health Sciences in 2017, she practiced in southern California for 4 years.

Assistant Professor of Microbiology
Alexandra Calle is a native of Colombia (South America). She holds a Bachelors Degree in Biology from Universidad del Valle –Colombia, a Masters degree in Food Sciences with emphasis in Microbiology from University of Nebraska (Lincoln, NE), and a PhD in Animal Sciences with emphasis in Food Microbiology from Texas Tech University (Lubbock, TX), where she also conducted postdoctoral research studies.

Carlos is an assistant professor of general veterinary practice graduated from the University of Guadalajara in Mexico. Since he was a kid, he has been fascinated by livestock and farming and back home his family owns a lime tree farm where they raise pure breed American Aberdeen cattle.

Robin grew up in many culturally diverse areas on the United States, including inner city Detroit, Appalachia West Virginia, and South Texas. She first received her BSN degree and practiced as a neonatal intensive care nurse for 12 years.

He attended the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine and completed a small animal rotating internship and pathology residency at Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.

After a year in an equine general practice, she shifted to performance horses, focusing solely on lameness and imaging.

Prasanth Chelikani is a Professor of Physiology. He graduated with a BVSc (Bachelor of Veterinary Science) degree followed by an MVSc in reproductive physiology from Andhra Pradesh Agricultural University, Tirupati, India, and a PhD in animal science from the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada.

Britt Conklin is the Associate Dean for Clinical Programs and a Professor. He grew up on a farming and ranching operation in the panhandle of Texas and has a diverse agricultural and veterinary background.

She was born in Texas and raised in Oklahoma, Missouri and Kentucky. After many years spent in her dads mixed animal veterinary practice, she decided to go to veterinary school at Oklahoma State and focus on food animal medicine.

David M. Dutton is a Professor of Large Animal Surgery at Texas Tech University, School of Veterinary Medicine. He grew up in the agricultural industry in west Texas and southern New Mexico and continues to be involved in ranching, raising show cattle and wildlife management. He was the owner of an equine practice for 20 years focused on equine surgery, lameness and sports medicine.

Dr. Arlene Garcia-Marquez is a Presidio, Texas, native with a research focus in animal behavior and welfare. She is a PAACO certified multi-species animal welfare auditor, a licensed veterinary technician, and animal welfare consultant for various industry groups.

John Gibbons is a reproductive physiologists with a mixture of clinical and academic experiences focused on assisted reproductive techniques in livestock ranging from the very basic to the easily applied. A native of Dallas TX, John received a BS in Animal Science from Texas A&M University, an MS in Dairy Science from Virginia Tech University, and a PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Her journey in veterinary medicine started with an internship at Mid-Atlantic Equine Medical Center in New Jersey, followed by a comprehensive Large Animal Internal Medicine Residency at Texas A&M University.

He grew up in rural Australia and was introduced to the veterinary profession while working with his veterinarian father on the family livestock operation which housed a pioneering embryo transfer center. After completing his veterinary degree he traveled to the US which led to his PhD is in Epidemiology from Colorado State University.

Trista Mills is an Assistant Professor of General Practice at Texas Tech University School of Veterinary Medicine. Trista grew up in Indiana working as a general hand/rider for local horse farms. At 18 she moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where she continued to work with horses as a veterinary assistant at Arizona Equine, a surgical and medical center for horses.

Don Rollins is the new Director of the Clinical Learning Network. He is responsible for oversight of the clinical partners and works closely with the veterinarians and staff at the sites. He will also be able to bring his 25 years of clinical experience to the professional and clinical skills team and work with third year vet students on problem solving in the clinical setting.

Clinton J. Roof is an Assistant Professor of Dairy Medicine and Surgery at Texas Tech University. He was born and raised in southern New Mexico where he was introduced to livestock and animal sciences. While earning his veterinary degree, he completed his Masters degree in Veterinary Biomedical Sciences at Kansas State University with a focus on the qualification and quantification of bacterial pathogen load in acute bovine respiratory disease cases.

Smriti Shringi is an Assistant Professor with 20 years of academic and private sector experience in undertaking infectious disease challenges that impact animal agriculture and wildlife, by developing tools and strategies that aid in pathogen detection, surveillance and disease diagnosis. She grew up in a family of educators in a north-western state of India. She earned professional degrees in Veterinary Medicine and masters in veterinary microbiology from Rajasthan Agricultural University, India.
