About Me

Jason Fritzler is an Associate Professor of Microbiology and Parasitology. He grew up in New Deal, Texas and obtained both his BS in Animal Science and PhD in Veterinary Microbiology from Texas A&M University. He has served as a professor and Institutional Biological Safety Officer at universities in East Texas, Utah, and in the Texas Panhandle prior to his role at the Texas Tech University School of Veterinary Medicine.

Instruction

Jason's teaching focuses on all aspects of infectious disease, particularly those caused by parasites, bacteria and viruses as they pertain to the veterinarian's role in diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and One Health.

Research

His research portfolio includes molecular and biochemical evaluation and elucidation of novel chemotherapeutic agents against a number of drug resistant pathogens affecting both humans and animals, and infectious disease ecology of the Texas Panhandle and surrounding areas.

Service

Jason has developed and implemented Institutional Biosafety Policies at several universities and has played key roles in construction projects and provided oversight of numerous research and teaching projects. He has served on numerous local, regional and national working groups, and has served as President of the Intermountain Branch of the American Society for Microbiology. He is a member of the American Society for Microbiology, the American Association of Veterinary Parasitologists, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
