About Me

Michael J. Cruz Penn is a Assistant Professor of Anatomic Pathology at the School of Veterinary Medicine of Texas Tech University. He grew up and completed his Veterinary degree in Costa Rica with a graduation research focused on Veterinary Forensic Pathology. He practiced small animal medicine and functioned as a surgery instructor in Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Panama, Guatemala and Honduras before completing a residency program in Anatomic Veterinary Pathology and a Fellowship in Zoo and Wildlife Pathology within the United States.

Instruction

Since then, he has dedicated himself to the training of veterinary students on the diagnostic of diseases in companion, production, and wildlife animal species.

Research

His research interests include Forensic Veterinary Pathology, Diseases of Zoo and Wildlife animal species, and the developing of new didactic tools and techniques.

He is a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Pathologist
