About Me

Robin grew up in many culturally diverse areas on the United States, including inner city Detroit, Appalachia West Virginia, and South Texas. She first received her BSN degree and practiced as a neonatal intensive care nurse for 12 years. She then returned to school and earned her DVM from Oregon State University in 1997. She furthered her education with an internship in equine surgery at Chino Valley Equine Hospital in Chino CA. She then practiced in the central valley of CA providing emergency surgery services for dairy cattle. She and her husband owned a dairy in Iowa for several years. During that time Robin also helped a local veterinarian by performing surgeries several days a week. After moving to the Amarillo area, Dr. Carlson opened her practice in Bushland. Bushland Small Animal Veterinary Clinic is an AAHA accredited practice. She joined the School of Veterinary Medicine faculty as a Professor of Practice in May of 2022.
