About Me

Annelise Nguyen is the Associate Dean for Research and Professor of Toxicology at Texas Tech University and a diplomate of the American Board of Toxicology. She grew up in the northeastern region of Texas. After the completion of a doctorate degree in Toxicology from Texas A&M University and a postdoctoral fellowship from the National Eye Institute, she joined the Comparative Toxicology Faculty at Kansas State University, College of Veterinary Medicine.

Instruction

Her teaching focuses all aspects of toxicology and cancer pathogenesis.

Research

She has nearly two decades of research experience in the field of cancer biology, focusing on the role of gap junctional intercellular communication. Recently, her work extended to the field of spheroid/organoid development, utilizing new technology of PGMatrix to recapitulate 3D human tumor-like organoids.

Service

She mentored more than 45 research students and advised over 40 veterinary research scholars. She holds 4 US patents and has numerous awards, noticeably the 2011 University Distinguished Faculty Award for the Mentoring Undergraduate Students in Research and recently the 2019 John Doull Award for her contribution to the field of toxicology.

She served twice as the President of the Central States-Society of Toxicology. She was the recipient of the NIH Loan Repayment Program (LRP) and subsequently served as the ambassador of the LRP. She was appointed and served from 2013-2016 on the Literature Review Committee at the National Library of Medicine and then chaired the study section from 2016-2017. In 2022, she was accepted as a Fellow of the Academy of Toxicological Sciences (ATS). Currently, she is a literature technical reviewer for the PubMed Central (PMC) of the National Library of Medicine.
