All students must have an updated criminal background check from a university-approved vendor before starting veterinary school. The background check is at the expense of the student. In addition, a second background check will need to completed prior to starting their clinical year. Failure to comply with this mandate will result in denial to matriculate or an enrolled student being withdrawn from their present program. 

Below is a link for students to purchase a criminal background check. Once a background check has been purchased and processed, you will need to complete a “Background Check Disclosure” form that will be emailed to your Texas Tech email address. Your background check will not be initiated until you have submitted this form. The cost for a background check is $20. A background check can take up to 2 weeks to fully process and depending on the individual, there may be additional costs. Student Services will be in contact if there is a remaining balance at the start of the fall semester.
