Excused Absence

In the event that a student must miss class, students must notify the Office of Academic Affairs and the Instructor of Record (IoR). Requests for excused absences must be submitted 10 working days prior to an absence, but if an emergency or unforeseeable issues arise, such as illness, students may inform the Office of Academic Affairs as soon as possible or upon their return to campus.

Documentation will be required to substantiate the excused absence. Acceptable documentation examples include a statement from a health-care provider, a discharge notice from a hospital, or documentation from a funeral. Excused absences may be granted for illness, injury, death of immediate family (legal guardian), military duty, participation in SVM authorized activities, representing the School at conferences, University events, in accordance with TTU OP 34.19 for religious days, or other events as approved by the Office of Academic Affairs. The request form for an excused absence is available on the main course Blackboard page for all SVM courses.
