Students in the J.T. & Margaret Talkington College of Visual & Performing Arts (TCVPA) study with highly trained faculty in their field, preparing the next generation of performers, composers, artists, and scholars. Through hands-on internships, residencies, and arts-based study abroad, students have the opportunities to broaden their abilities for a future in all areas of art, dance, music and theatre.
Step 1: Apply to Texas Tech
An application to the university can be completed before or after applying to your program of interest (see Step 2). Admission to the TCVPA is continegent upon admission to Texas Tech.

Any incoming admitted or currently enrolled Texas Tech student is required to apply to their program of interest. Learn more about our programs below.
School of Art
Students who plan to major in Art Education, Art History, Graphic Design, or a Studio Art area must apply and submit a portfolio and/or essay for their intended program. More application details can be found on our School of Art Application Page.
School of Music
Students who plan to major in Music Composition, Music Education, Performance or Theory must apply and audition for their intended program. More application details can be found on our School of Music Application Page.
School of Theatre & Dance
Students who plan to major in a BA/BFA Dance or BFA Theatre Arts (Acting, Design/Technology, Musical Theatre) program must apply and audition or submit a portflio for their intended program. More application details can be found on our School of Theatre & Dance Application Page.
