Red Raider Startup: Spend a weekend at the hub with your friends to create the next BIG IDEA. This fun, intensive 3-day weekend workshop helps first-time entrepreneurs connect a problem to a solution and take the first step in founding their startup. For more information or to get involved, click here.

Entrepreneurial Student Organizations

Double Time (TTIME): Texas Tech's Innovation mentorship and entrepreneurship organization helps turn ideas into thriving businesses. The organization is designed to create a culture of entrepreneurship across campus. It is open to all undergraduate and graduate students from all majors across the university. The group provides students with resources, mentors and support to turn their innovative ideas into reality. For more information, click here.

Media Entrepreneurship And Innovation Group at the College of Media & Communication: the Media Entrepreneurship and Innovation Group (MEIG) seeks to foster and promote an appreciation of and climate for media entrepreneurship and innovation among students at Texas Tech. The group competes in local, regional and national media entrepreneurship competitions, such as Student Startup Madness, and is a pilot participant in the inaugural International Innovator's Cup Challenge. Collegiate Entrepreneurs' Organization (CEO) at Rawls College of Business: This premier entrepreneurship network supports entrepreneurship on over 200 chapters in more than 43 states. CEO's mission is to inform, support and inspire college students to be entrepreneurial and seek opportunity through enterprise creation. With a diverse entrepreneurial community and global network, CEO provides student entrepreneurs with opportunities, events, chapter activities, and conferences to help start businesses. Alpha Kappa Psi: Members of Alpha Kappa Psi, a business professional fraternity, learn how to achieve professionalism while making true life-long friends. Their mission is to develop well-trained, ethical, skilled, resourceful, and experienced business leaders. Learn more here.

 

Events

1 Million Cups: 9-10 a.m. Wednesdays, Innovation Hub, 3411 Fourth St., just east of Quaker Avenue. 1 Million cups launches Feb. 24 in Lubbock. Each Wednesday morning one or two early-stage startups present their companies to a diverse audience of peers, mentors, educators, and advisors. 1 Million Cups is a free, weekly national program designed to educate, engage, and connect entrepreneurs. Developed by the Kauffman Foundation, 1MC is based on the notion that entrepreneurs discover solutions and network over a million cups of coffee. Learn more about 1 Million Cups

Opportunities

With our new entrepreneurial initiatives on campus, we are looking for local and regional entrepreneurial leaders to dedicate time and expertise to guide college students in process of setting up their own businesses. The greatest gifts you can donate are your time and your talent. We need your expertise for:

  • Face-to-face mentoring in small groups.
  • Short classes for our weekly meetups with small groups of students, and
  • More formal presentations for meetings of campus entrepreneurship groups.
