Gender & Gender Identity Colloquium 2014 Schedule
Texas Tech University
Friday, October 31, 2014
Teaching, Learning & Professional Development Center
University Library, RM 151
The purpose of the colloquium is to highlight feminist research on gender and gender identity. Topics include gender and media, gender and political activism, cultural construction of gender, and psychology of sex roles.
In recognition of October being nationally recognized as Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender (GLBT) & Ally Awareness Month, we are hosting an educational initiative to gain additional tools and resources to make classrooms safer and more affirming of students regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity/expression.
The discussion is intended to showcase current classroom activities and exercises from Texas Tech faculty that have created a safe environment to discuss the difference between gender, sex and sexuality. Through this colloquium participants will learn how to bring more awareness to the underlying misconceptions and misinformation of specific gendered minorities. It is our intent to encourage open and safe dialogue for educators to discuss their experiences.
This event is FREE and open to the public.

Volunteer Needs
Please help make the Women's Studies Colloquium a huge success by serving as a volunteer. Specific tasks, as well as miscellaneous duties, are offered to provide you an experience of a behind the scenes look at organizing and planning a conference of this nature.
This opportunity is highly beneficial to those students in need of building their resume. We will work with you, even if you can only provide us an hour of your day. You do not have to commit to the whole time frame and there is not a limit to the amount of time you spend with us.
