LGBTQIA & Ally Awareness 2016


As a coalition of the Lubbock community and Texas Tech University community, coordinated events are intended to encourage honesty and openness about being lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex and asexual (LGBTQIA) and an ally.

  • LGBTQIA Student Support Group: The Student Counseling Center offers many different opportunities for group therapy throughout the year. The LGBTQIA Student Support Group is open to students wanting to discuss and explore sexual identity and/or gender identity concerns. It is suitable for students who are either firm in their identity or may be questioning an aspect of their identity. Contact the Student Wellness Center at 742-3674.

October 11th - National Coming OUT Day!
Every year on National Coming Out Day, we celebrate coming out as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer (LGBTQIA) or as an ally. On Oct. 11, 2015, marks the 27th anniversary of National Coming Out Day.

October 17th - Spirit Day!
Millions go purple on Spirit Day in a stand against bullying and to show their support for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBTQIA) youth. Observed annually since 2010, individuals, schools, organizations, corporations, and public figures wear purple, which symbolizes 'spirit' on the rainbow flag. Follow the hashtag #spiritday on Twitter.
