On September 19th, 2014 the White House launched the "It's On Us" campaign, aimed at ending sexual assaults on college campuses.
"It's On Us is a rallying cry, inviting everyone to step up and realize that the solution begins with us. It seeks to reframe the conversation surrounding sexual assault in a way that inspires everyone to see it as their responsibility to do something, big or small, to prevent it."
How did the campaign come about?
The campaign came out of the 2014 White House Task Force to Protect Students from Sexual Assault, which issued a set of findings in April on how to prevent rape on campus. The task force conducted focus groups with a broad range of groups, including members of Greek organizations as well as student leaders, in crafting its strategy.
How has the Big 12 Responded to this Campaign?
Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby attended Friday's (September 19, 2014) announcement of the It's On Us Campaign. The initiative to raise awareness about sexual assaults on college campuses was announced by President Barack Obama and vice president Joe Biden.
How can you help?
We need your help to generate a campus wide campaign for all administrative, academic, service oriented, student, faculty and staff related departments and organizations to encourage them to make their own video pledge.
Thank you to everyone that came out to participate in our video pledge. View a quick edit here
