September 10-11:  The Department of Classical & Modern Languages & Literatures will host a conference on Convivencia: Christians, Jews, and Muslims living together in Medieval Spain. September 10: The Department of English and the Creative Writing Program will host a reception at 6pm at the Ranching Heritage Center, featuring a few of our faculty and students who will give brief readings from their work.  The goal of the event is to raise awareness about the Creative Writing Program, its past, present, and future.  We intend to attract friends and donors to this reception who can partner with us to build endowments for scholarships and other aspects of our writing program.  The Dean of Arts and Sciences and the Chair of the Department of English will briefly discuss the success and vitality of Texas Tech University's Creative Writing Program. 

September 14-16: The Department of Political Science will host a conference entitled, “A Colloquium on United States National Security Policy, Military Strategy, and Contemporary Warfare.” This conference is jointly sponsored by the Department of Political Science and Strategic Studies Institute of the Army War College which made this gathering possible with an academic outreach grant. September 27, 2010 to October 6, 2010.  The Department of Health, Exercise, and Sport Sciences will host Beatrice Byaruhanga and her husband George.
