RESEARCH & DISCOVERY

Texas Tech University has been named by the Carnegie Research Classification as a university of Very High Research Activity (R1) — often referred to as Carnegie Tier One. Arts & Sciences students have direct access to faculty who are conducting this work in cutting-edge lab spaces. From astrophysicists investigating the life cycle of stars, to microbiologists testing COVID-19 samples, to sociologists analyzing how to predict the economic impacts of elections, our research impacts the globe and reaches for the stars.

SCHOLARSHIPS & FINANCIAL AID

The College of Arts & Sciences offers scholarships to students through department-specific scholarships and Dean's Office scholarships. In total, more than $2.5 million dollars are awarded on average annually. A vast array of awards are available to incoming and current students.

DEAN OF STUDENT AFFAIRS

Associate dean for student affairs, Dr. Jorge Iber supervises the manual degree auditing process for the College of Arts & Sciences. He also serves as a liaison to various student service offices across campus. Dr. Iber, who as a faculty member serves as a full professor of history, is regularly available to advise and meet with Arts & Sciences students on a walk-in basis during his posted office hours.
