Curriculum
The following curriculum or “program of study” was designed especially for the cohort (Cohort `10) inducted into the program in August 2006 and completing in August 2010. The Doctor of Education in Agricultural Education includes a minimum of 64 semester credit hours above the master’s degree in the following category areas:
Seminars (7 hours) – Interactive seminars include face-to-face seminars, colloquia, research conferences, and professional meetings.
Content Specialization (21 hours) – Specialization includes courses in planning and needs assessment, instructional design, delivery strategies, and evaluation.
Methods of Research (12 hours) – Research Methods, Research Analyses, and Data Interpretation.
Supporting Field (12 hours) – Courses that may be selected to support the knowledge base and/or contextual application include agricultural sciences, educational administration, educational human resource development, ICT and eLearning, or research methodologies and statistics. Up to six hours may be earned through planned internships.
Dissertation or Record of Study (12 hours) – The joint graduate committee will require a document presenting original research or creative scholarship with a high degree of literary skill. The student will work under the direction of a major advisor from the “home” university and a major co-advisor from the other university. The student’s graduate committee will be comprised of faculty from both universities and an outside committee member from the “home” university. The projected course offerings semester-by-semester are available for planning.
