Aquatics Spring 2013 Programming

Program registration available in person at the Aquatic Center or Leisure Pool during open hours (Aquatic Center is open October through mid-April, Leisure Pool is open mid-April through Early October). You must be registered by the Wednesday in advance of the class starting. Please call the Aquatic Center (742-3896) or Leisure Pool (742-1339) for more information.

Free Programming

There are a number of free programs available at the Leisure Pool and Aquatics Center! Check them out!

Polar Bear Swim

Think you can handle the cold? Try the polar bear swim in the Lazy River of the Leisure Pool! Swim a lap in the Lazy River and tell your friends how tough you are. Don't worry, the Hot Tub will be open for you to jump and warm up.

Moonlight Float

Take a late-night float-and-soak in the lazy river! We'll have a DJ, glow-in-the-dark wristbands and necklaces, and a great atmosphere for relaxing at the end of the semester! All students are invited to attend this free event and enjoy the pool by moonlight.

Long Course Swims

Tired of flip turns? Stretch it out and swim the entire 50 meter length of the pool before heading back! Long Course swims are free for students and faculty/staff Rec Center members, and $10 for non-members.

5000 Meter Swim

Think you can eat what Michael Phelps eats for breakfast and then swim this long course? We don't recommend you trying to eat 10,000 calories in a day, but we definitely want you out for this great swim! This event is designed to test your personal limits. The swim is free for students and Rec Center Members, and $10 for non-members. Please bring along a friend to count laps for you.

Swim the Lazy River

Tired of swimming laps back and forth, with nowhere to go? We are opening up the Lazy River for long course swimming with no current. Each lap is 655 ft. long, and takes about 9 laps for a mile. Swim the river is free for student and faculty/staff Rec Center members and $10 for non-members.

Drop-In Clinics

The Stroke Mechanics and Flip Turn Clinics require no pre-registration, but a $5 fee will be charged for the clinic. Just stop by and get instruction!

This clinic will improve your stroke mechanics and flip turns. No pre-registration is necessary. $5 fee for student and faculty/staff Rec Center members and $15 for non-members.

Swim Fit

For our adult patrons who are already accomplished swimmers and are looking to improve their skills, technique, and endurance. Participants will be evaluated on the first day of class, and should be comfortable swimming 100 yards of continuous front crawl, 25 yards of back stroke, and 25 yards of breast stroke. $40 for TTU/SRC Members. $45 for Non-members

Adult Beginner Swimming

Designed for adults, these classes will help you feel comfortable in the water and start you on a path to a great workout! Our Beginners Classes teach the basics of swimming and water safety. It's perfect if you haven't been in the pool for a while or are just starting out. All classes are taught by an American Red Cross instructor in a supportive and friendly environment. The cost is $40 for Texas Tech Students, Faculty and Staff and $45 for community participants.

Adult Intermediate Swimming

Builds on the basic skills of the Adult Beginner Course for those who want to continue skill development and enhance water comfort level. All classes are taught by an American Red Cross instructor in a supportive and friendly environment. The cost is $40 for Texas Tech Students, Faculty and Staff and $45 for community participants.

Private Swim Lessons

Private and semi-private swimming lessons are designed to meet the recreational or competitive swimming needs of everyone, including infants, children, adults and seniors. Private lessons offer one-on-one instruction, while semi-private lessons provide a small group atmosphere with one instructor. Each lesson lasts 45 minutes with a trained instructor. The first participant is $75 for three sessions; each additional participant is $45 with a maximum of three participants enrolled in the same lesson. Please request private/semi-private lessons in person. We will match you with an instructor who meets your needs and availability.
