IMMS Chief Scientist’s Message
At this Institute, we are looking for talented, dedicated, and academically committed young scholars to join us in exploring the wondrous world of Engineering Sciences.
We especially invite the National Science Foundation (NSF), U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), and Department of Energy (DoE) Graduate Fellows to join us. Where appropriate we can provide supplemental funding. We also cordially welcome International Visiting Scholars/Graduate Students who are supported by their respective governments, visiting professors, and short-term visitors to study, conduct research, and collaborate with us here at Texas Tech University, which has the ambiance of an old-world European university.
Lubbock is a very quiet and charming town of 300,000 inhabitants with a very high quality of life, conducive to serious academic pursuits and achievements. Chief Scientist's Bio Highlights:
- Recognized nationally and internationally in the fields of computational science and engineering at length scales of nano-to-macro, materials/solid/structural mechanics, failure prevention, and health management.
- Member of the U.S. National Academies, The Academy of Athens, and European Academy of Sciences.
- Received numerous prestigious recognitions including: India's National Medal Science & Technology - Padma Bhushan Award presented by the President of India, IAAA Walter J. & Angeline H. Crichlow Trust Award with a cash prize of $100,000, which he subsequently donated to a charity organization, and a Gold Medal from Greek National Association for Computational Mechanics.
- Founder and Editor-in-Chief of numerous prestigious professional activities and journals.
