A Note from the Editor

Family. Texas Tech. New technologies. Agriculture. All important to West Texas. All vital to the spirit of the people who live here. The Spring 2016 issue of The Agriculturist embodies this spirit.

My hope for you is that our stories connect you with this spirit. Take pride in your university, just like Tiffany Kristynik has with her book inspired by the traditions of Texas Tech. Let your creativity shine, just as the students in landscape architecture do in their designs. And above all, be inspired to make a change that will better yourself and others around you, just as Weldon Warren has with his grass-fed beef operation.

I would like to thank the staff and contributors for helping make The Agriculturist representative of the dedication and passion of the students at Texas Tech and within the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources.

I would also like to thank everyone who helped make these stories come to life. From crop research and new technologies to one man’s journey as a cotton farmer, your stories inspired us. Thank you for allowing us to share them.

Take some time to enjoy our magazine. It is sure to evoke in you a sense of pride for this industry. This school. This life.
