Timely Warnings and Emergency Notifications

All statements of policy contained in this report are applicable to all separate campus sites unless otherwise indicated.

Timely Warnings and Emergency Notifications are separate requirements under the Clery Act and the situation determines which notification is appropriate and will be utilized. Information will be disseminated through Timely Warnings and Emergency Notifications using the following programs.

  • Texas Tech University Lubbock campus, TTU at El Paso, and TTU School of Veterinary Medicine - TechAlert
  • TTU Costa Rica - TTU students, faculty, and staff will receive information through the school's Whatsapp and their TTU email.
  • TTU at El Paso - Students may also receive notifications from StatAlert, a notification system used by TTUHSC El Paso due to the proximity of the campus.
  • TTU School of Veterinary Medicine - Students may also receive notifications from StatAlert, a notification system used by TTUHSC Amarillo due to the proximity of the campus.
  • TTU at Waco - All TTU students enrolled at Texas Tech University at Waco are sent information to sign up for McLennan Community College (MCC)'s myAlert system to receive any notifications that may be sent through MCC.
  • Regional campuses - The Clery Compliance Officer, Texas Tech Police Department, Texas Tech Office of Emergency Management, or TTU Marketing & Communications will work with the Regional Campus Director in disseminating any required Notifications as needed. In the case of an emergency situation, faculty, staff, and students should follow the direction of site employees and any notifications that are disseminated.

Individuals can report emergencies occurring at Texas Tech University by dialing 911.

Enrolling In the University's TechAlert System - Texas Tech University Lubbock campus, TTU At El Paso, and TTU School of Veterinary Medicine

All faculty, staff, and students at Texas Tech University Lubbock campus, TTU at El Paso and TTU School of Veterinary Medicine are automatically enrolled with their eRaider email address and the primary phone number listed in their personnel or registration records. The system accommodates additional numbers with options for text messages and TDD/TTY for the hearing impaired. All members of the Texas Tech community should keep their information updated by going to the TechAlert webpage at http://www.techalert.ttu.edu. The information is secure and will never be used by Texas Tech University for any reason other than emergency alert notifications.

Students at the regional campuses should ensure that campus officials always have their updated contact information.
