Red River War 150th Anniversary
Online Nov. 8, 2022 12-1 PM
Members of the Texas Tech University Indigenous and Native American Studies Circle
collaborate with the ComancheNation history specialist and others on planning for
the 150th Anniversary of the Red River War.
The Red River War is considered to be the last valiant effort for the Plains Native Nations to stay on their traditional territories. Ultimately the Native Nations were "removed" to Indian Territory and they continue to commemorate their heroes in that War for their wisdom, courage and leadership.
Today is a discussion of how to collaborate on appropriately recognizing this war through scholarship, healing and commemnoration.
