Personal Information

Dr. Gollahon is Professor and Associate Chair in the Department of Biological Sciences at Texas Tech University. Her ongoing research involves understanding aspects of breast cancer development, progression and metastasis, as well as testing candidate anticancer agents. She has active projects with colleagues in Nutritional Sciences and Animal Sciences. Dr. Gollahon's background includes a B.A. in Marine Biology from Barrington College, an M.S. in Zoology and Ph.D. in Veterinary Anatomy (toxicology of potential teratogens in the workplace) from Texas A&M University. During her postdoctoral training at UT MD Anderson Cancer Center and UT Southwestern Medical Center, she switched to breast cancer research. This broad background and understanding of Biological Systems, allows her to identify patterns that emerge from molecular and cellular pathways and integrate them into a contextual framework for potential application-based knowledge in health-related fields. With rigorous student training, Dr. Gollahon's graduate students have gone on to successfully occupy academic, medical professional and industrial positions.
