Upe Flueckiger joined Texas Tech University in the fall of 1998 after receiving his Master of Architecture from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute. His research interests include architectural design with an emphasis on economical and ecological housing—resiliency—as well as minimalism in architecture with a special interest in the architectural work of Donald Judd in Marfa, Texas.


His design work has been published in The New York Times and Texas Architect Magazine as well as other books, journals, and magazines. He completed a Sustainable Cabin, a design-build project with his students and several projects for the Charles Adams Studio Project, non-profit community-based arts organization, in Lubbock, Texas.

Flueckiger also holds a Swiss Federal Certificate of Construction Design.
