Medical Student at TTUHSC School of Medicine

I have wanted to be a doctor since I was a little girl. Medicine is the perfect career for me to apply my ambitions of humanitarianism, lifelong learning and science. TTUHSC School of Medicine was my top choice as a medical school, and I am extremely excited to continue as a Texas Tech student and pursue my medical education there. Earning a medical degree is both a challenge and a privilege. As a medical student, each day I will be learning and building my medical knowledge that I will later use to help people as a doctor. A medical degree will give me great opportunities to make positive impacts on people's lives every day.

I went to the UCC with a lot of questions and in need of a lot of help to develop my application and become prepared as a medical school applicant. Mrs. Dominique Massey worked with me for months on my essays and resume. The time, patience, and commitment that Mrs. Massey had with me on my application was central to me receiving such selective interview invitations. I then improved greatly at interviews through the mock interviews I did at the UCC. Thanks to the UCC, I felt incredibly prepared on interview day at TTUHSC.

Mrs. Massey influenced my acceptance to medical school so much by simply believing in me. As a 19 year old and just one year out of high school, I was doubted as an applicant and told to consider not applying because I was not ready, qualified enough, or too young. However, Mrs. Massey believed in me, saw my potential, and gave me the confidence I needed to overcome all the doubts throughout this long application process. She was committed to making my essay and application as best as possible. She was able to do this because she took the time to get to know me and my dreams so well. I became close with Mrs. Massey and knew I could ask her any question and trust her insightful advice.

My favorite advice from the UCC was to just be honest. They gave me confidence that I could be a successful applicant and professional just by being myself.
