March Madness for 5th Graders

The Kinesiology & Athletic Society within the HESS Department annually hosts a fifth grade after school basketball program on the Texas Tech University campus. The program is called March Madness and is designed to provide a positive and fun environment for your child while learning and improving basketball skills. Texas Tech students are in charge of coaching and conducting the sessions.
March Madness focuses on teaching and improving basketball skills through relevant games and developmentally appropriate practices. Areas that are covered include:
- Dribbling
- Shooting
- Passing
- Basketball strategies
Dates
For Spring 2009, the dates are Tuesdays and Thursdays, March 3rd - April 2nd from 3:30PM - 5:30PM. There will be no sessions over Spring Break (March 17 & 19).
Location
The sessions will be held on the Texas Tech University campus. Students will be transported from their elementary school to Texas Tech University and then transported back to their elementary school after the program is over each day.
Participating Schools
In order to assure each participant receives individual attention from their coach, this program is limited to the following 5th grade students in Lubbock, Texas attending:
- Parkway Elementary
- McWhorter Elementary
Cost
March Madness is FREE of charge.
Registration
